SENIOR PHILANTHROPY ASSOCIATE:
Hospice Southeastern Connecticut is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to lead their Donor Development Program.
The Senior Philanthropy Associate will be responsible for the creation and implementation of the strategic and operational plan for the agency’s fundraising initiatives; identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospective major donors and supervision of the development/philanthropy team. Responsible for broadening awareness and understanding of Hospice Southeastern Connecticut (HSECT) through effective internal and external marketing, communication and public relations efforts. Will work with the President/CEO to plan and implement an overall outreach and development strategy for the agency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four to six years of professional fundraising experience in a non-profit organization developing strategies, soliciting and securing major gifts with proven success in securing gifts.
- Superb written and verbal skills.The ability to understand and translate the agency’s miss and interests for donors and prospects with clarity, crispness, and effectiveness and to develop complex written materials to summarize the essence of issues and the means to address them.
- Creative and strategic thinker.
- Ability to quickly learn and understand policy and organizational issues and perform substantive research, analyze issues affecting organization and create /apply successful solutions.
- Strong relationship and partnership orientation. A team player with an institution-wide view.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 4 years professional fundraising and donor cultivation experience required
- Minimum of 2 years leadership/management experience
- Ability to work in relationship building
- Broad understanding of gift management and gift management data base
- Comprehensive knowledge of the process of donor management
- Prior health care experience preferred

Clinical Opportunities
On Call and 2nd shift Nurse:
Hospice Southeastern Connecticut is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join their clinical team as the On Call and 2nd Shift Nurse.
The On Call and 2nd Shift Nurse will be responsible for providing phone support and visits to the patients and families in the evening and night time hours in order to maximize the comfort and health of patients and family in the New London county area. The position involves 3 on call nights (4p-8a) and 2 second shift days (1p-9p). Initial training and orientation period may be flexible.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduated from an accredited nursing program. A minimum of One year experience as a registered nurse. Prior Hospice or home care experience preferred.
- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in Connecticut.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply community nursing principles and practices.
- Ability to teach basic nursing care to patients, family, hospice aide and volunteers.
- Must be comfortable using computerized clinical record keeping.
- Understands and maintains confidentiality.
- Candidates must live in New London County.

Per Diem RN's:
Registered Nurses needed to provide care and visits to Hospice patients in the New London County area. Initial training period schedule may be flexible.
One year nursing experience required. Prior Hospice or Home care experience preferred.
Qualified Candidates for all open positions must have:
- Proficient computer skills
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience preferred.
- Organized; detail oriented
- Good communication skills; team oriented
- Case management, treatment and discharge planning experience preferred.

Full-time and part-time employees of Hospice Southeastern Connecticut (HSECT) working 30 hours per week or more, unless otherwise noted, are eligible for the following comprehensive slate of benefits:
Medical Insurance - HSECT & Employee Paid
Employee receives medical insurance coverage for themselves, their spouse or domestic partner and their dependents, if they so choose. The plan is the Aetna Multi Plan. Eligibility begins the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment.
Dental Insurance - Employee Paid
Flexible Spending - Pre-Tax Deduction
Employee may establish Flexible Spending Account(s) for medical or dependent care expenses. Eligibility begins on the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment. This is a calendar year commitment that complies with Internal Revenue Service regulations. Funds must be used within the year or will be forfeited.
Retirement - Employee Paid through Payroll Deduction, if chosen by Employee. (not a matching plan)
Employee, if hired to work at least 20 hours per week, is eligible to make salary deferral contributions immediately. Employee Contributions are 100% vested. The HSECT 403(b) is administered by the Principal Financial Group.

Holidays - HSECT Paid
Employee receives ten paid holidays, per the employee’s scheduled hours, including: New Year’s, Martin Luther King, President’s, Memorial, Independence, Labor, Columbus, Veteran’s, Thanksgiving, & Christmas.
Paid Time Off (PTO) - HSECT Paid
An employee working at least 22.5 hours per week is eligible for PTO (vacation and personal time) benefits. PTO is accrued at 60%, 80% and 100% based on the employee’s scheduled hours. In addition, sick time will also be accrued.
Other Voluntary Benefits – Employee Paid through Payroll Deduction, if chosen by employee.
